The World As It Is vs. The World As We Want It To Be

The world is what it is... people are who they are...it's not our job to fix any of it.  All we can do is know that the world is what it is, and try to be a good person.  Are we so vein to think that we can really change things?  People don't change.  People have been the same since the dawn of time.  Sure, we may have temporarily shuffled some social customs thinking we are the first ones to have a brilliant agenda for humanity, but eventually everything goes back to what it was from the beginning.
Don't fight it.

There's the world as it is, and the world as we want it to be.   Protect your energy and how you spend it.  Also protect with whom you spend time.  People, in general, are a disappointing lot.  Trust very few if any at all.  Cherish true friends and family.  Well, family can be complicated and some of the most heinous breaches of trust have happened within families.

I'm not saying to hide yourself in your house and be a complete hermit.  I'm saying be pleasant but leave your guard up.  Resist the temptation to try to "fix" people.  Love, and don't demand it in return.  However, that does not mean you have to be a sucker and be taken advantage of.  Boundaries are healthy.  Cut people out who are a drain and a suck.  It's not your fault that they are:  addicts, broke, angry, lost their job, etc.  There are forces at work we don't understand in people's life curriculum and their position in life.  You are not responsible for their situation.  However, in the same breath, we all need some help at some time.  The key is to RECIPROCATE.

Believe it or not, we are not all created equal.  We are not guaranteed anything in life, nor owed anything in life.  It's all pretty much luck and fate no matter how much our egos want to think we are in control.  It's true we all have a lot in life whether it's a wealthy life full of luxury, or the opposite.  It's all necessary.
