Dope Growing Problems: NOT Organic

Here's something I learned yesterday at lunch:  Pot growers are not subject to the same constraints as other crops (corn, wheat, soy, GRAPES, etc.).  For recognized agricultural crops there are rules and regulations regarding pesticides, fertilizers and such.  Those rules and regulations are non-existent for marijuana growers.  Why?  Because the federal government does not recognize marijuana as a bona fide crop.  It's still illegal at the federal level.

This poses a problem for dairy farmers, grape growers, etc., out here.

Some dairy farmers and agriculture growers go through great lengths to have their products meet "organic" standards that are free from pesticides and other carcinogenic chemicals.  They invest heavily.  Then......one day......BAM.....Pot Grower Joe buys up the neighboring land and decides to have a pot farm operation.  Pot Grower Joe uses all sorts of God-Only-Knows-What chemicals, fertilizers and pesticides to get a maximum profit.  The pot operation also sucks up the water wells.  Then it rains - it rains for months it seems.  All those unregulated chemicals wash next door to the farmers and the ranchers who are trying to have organic products.  Those chemicals then get absorbed by the crops and ingested by the animals.

Then there is the smell and the undesirables showing up with Kansas license plates trying to steal some of the crops to bring back.

Yeah, I think I would be upset.  I get it.  I think when California legalized pot we were focused more on decriminalizing the use of it rather than the growing of it.
