Our backyard is now the oasis we have always wanted complete with a built in covered BBQ area, fire pit, putting green, garden, you get the picture. It's like going to a resort without having to go anywhere. That's the point.
It's been a work in progress pretty much all summer. I had M come over last night to check it out. We went out by the fire pit and talked non-stop for hours on end. My coven NEEDS a fire pit for our rituals, right? LOL
We got on the subject of politics. I've known M for over two decades and no topics are off limits. We can debate and counter each other's view points without taking anything personally nor getting nasty. M is the most liberal person on earth, which is fine. She participates in all the local demonstrations and such. Here's where it gets a little dicey. There's been an uptick in burglaries around here. M was a victim. The suspects are black and this is a very white neighborhood. M has called the police department to request more patrolling of the neighborhood. The police are paranoid about 'profiling' given all that's been going on. There's no crime for black people walking around the neighborhood, but the description fits the suspects.
There you have it. Cops have their hands tied.
So that led to the conversation about our upcoming election. What we found interesting is that each side is insisting that if the other side gets elected our country is doomed. Who's right? Sounds to me we are effed no matter what.
