November 1

We used to have a thing in our household that the furnace would come on no earlier than November 1.  In the not-so-distant past it used to be a struggle to try to keep warm in mid to late October.  The kids would complain that the house was too cold.  We would complain about high PG&E bills.

Well, guess what.  Keeping the furnace off before November 1 is getting easier and easier with each passing year of global warming.  As I type this doors and windows are open as it's so warm.

Aren't we feeling a tad bit guilty each and every time we take a flight, drive a car, or otherwise consume in a matter that is detrimental to Grandmother Earth?

I do.

Can we just cut down on our harmful emissions just a little bit?  Can we all just cut back on all the waste?  Why do we think our plastics and other garbage should be barged off and happily accepted by another country, somewhere, to dispose of?  They don't want our garbage, either.

Pretty soon there won't be a choice.  Grandmother Earth will make the decision for us.

Americans.  We've always had a problem with authority and listening to our elders.  Look what we've done to the rest of the world in making them believe we are the "in" crowd.  We are the 16 year-olds who are insistent that our elders are out to ruin our lives and THEY JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND!!!!!!!   UGHHHHHHH!!!!!!  (dramatically slams door, flops on bed, and puts on headphones).
