Time Warp: Rocky Horror Picture Show
My 20-something son could not fathom sharing something from MY generation with his. Yeah, we had a pulse on what was cool before YOU were even born! Take THAT!

Republican Women Voting for Obama
Yes, the presidential race is hot and contested. A republican female friend of mine is voting for Obama. Why? Because Mitt comes across as a preachy, self-righteous asshole. She does not believe anything that is reported in the news because the news is distorted. She goes SOLELY by live, unedited television. I'm not saying her method is right or wrong, I'm just saying that's what got her vote.

Bleeding Heart Liberal
I do have a soft heart. Perhaps I come across ultra bitchy in this stupid, useless blog but this is where I park my anger and frustration. To be honest, I would have a hard time murdering somebody or causing them any type of harm even if they REALLY made me angry.
Which brings me to the death penalty. There is a proposition on the ballot here in California about abolishing the death penalty. I'm not sure how I feel about it. I'm not one who wants to kill everybody that steals a stick of gum from 7-11. On the other side I do struggle with people getting away with murder - literally. Lifelong health benefits? People would kill for that. No pun intended.
Bleeding heart liberals like to believe that with proper 'help' all those who are criminal can be rehabilitated. Sometimes people are just downright wired to evil and no amount of rehabilitation will help them - ever. I'm not saying rehabilitation is useless. I'm saying that more often than not people will return to their old destructive behaviors.
True story. I know of a very generous business owner. There was a homeless guy who hung around the shop. The business owner, having a huge heart, felt sorry for the homeless guy and offered him a job doing tasks for the business such as sweeping floors, etc. The business owner also subsidized housing for the homeless guy. How was the generous business owner rewarded? The homeless guy held up the generous business at gunpoint and robbed him. The homeless guy fled on foot and was never caught.
Just where do we draw the line between helping and enabling continued criminal behavior?

Mitt Romney Style
Truth often resides in humor. The Camp Romney is so out of touch they won't even get the nuances of this video.
Stop it! Petty Petty PETTY
Ok, so I indulged in a little political snarkiness with the upcoming election. The whole stupid- comments-said-by-either-party theme is now officially overkill. Bored. NEXT!!!!
Let's get down to what really matters. One candidate has made it certain through financial actions what he values. It's obvious women, American middle class, and the environment don't make the list. His memory has the capacity of only four years. Sorry, but I don't want somebody with the onset of Alzheimers running the country. Somebody who can't understand history is doomed to repeat it. Plus, he comes across as a plastic, spoiled, pushy asshole who will trample on anybody to achieve his goal. He got kind of preachy and 'holier than thou' with his religious bullshit at the end of the last debate. I wonder if he was wearing the Mormon Magic Underwear? Being this particular candidate hates the government so much AND taxes, AND was born with a silver spoon in his mouth, if he will do the job for free? Somehow, I'm not holding my breath.
The other candidate went into this young and naive. People bought into the dream. People don't understand the complexity of change and that it can take more than four years. Implementing change does not happen overnight and we live in an instant-result-quick-fix society. Is he perfect? No. Has he made mistakes? Yes. At least he is not an overt asshole.
People want jobs. I get that. Just remember that it's hard to balance what is good for the economy along with what is good for the environment. The world is changing. Have you updated your education and skills accordingly? Are you the kind of person an employer would want to hire? Are you the type of employer people want to work for? It all comes down to one simple philosophy -- ALL people want to be treated with respect, honesty, and fairness. It's not rocket science.

Presidential Debate 10-16-12
Here's what I got out of tonight's debate: Romney heard through the grapevine whilst enjoying that foreign trip he's writing off as a business expense that women needed flexible hours. His "nice guy" gesture was to free them from their job shackles so they could get home to their children to cook dinner. Wow.
The other social ill that was landed on women's lap was that "two-parent families" were the only way to raise socially responsible children.
Questions: Does the definition of "two-parent" families include gay marriage? Does this mean that the family in San Jose consisting of two lesbians who adopted three mentally challenged/deaf children is without merit?
What about husbands who beat their wives and/or kids? Is it better for women stay in an abusive situation because it is more socially acceptable in Mormon eyes? In actuality, I think it's because Mitt does not want to see single women coming begging for equal rights and opportunity. Keep them barefoot and pregnant.....
Shell Game
Have you noticed that everything is a shell game? It does not matter if you're buying a house, car, or silly cell phone. The contract options and fine print always make you the loser. They just don't want you to figure out how they're screwing you over. I've come to the conclusion that everything is a shell game with smoke and mirrors.
I'm not engaging in a major purchase because it's just too complicated.

The Trip
I work in an office where the employees know everybody in the community. Gossip runs rampant in Marin and Sonoma Counties. People dig for gossip. When they can't find it, they often take a scenario and invent their own drama.
Anyway..... an office mate of mine took off for an extended trip to Europe recently. I can't tell you how many times I've been cornered asking WHY she took the trip, WHOM she was with, and the STATE of her marriage?????? Like I know?????? Even if I did, why would I share such intimate details of somebody's life for gossip mongers?
IT'S NOBODY'S BUSINESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Can't we talk about the latest victories of a local sports team? A traffic citation that irked you? Or, how about an in-law that TOTALLY crossed a boundary?
Don't dig for intimate gossip from me. Even if I had the dirt, I won't dish it. I respect people's privacy too much to satisfy your pathetic need to dig for crap in others' personal lives.

Political Pollsters
Message to political pollsters: LEAVE US THE ***K ALONE!
I was at a friend's house last night. She lives in Petaluma. During our wine time and girl talk session, her phone kept on ringing and it was a number she did not recognize so she did not answer it. The number kept on calling, and calling, and calling...... thinking it was somebody calling from a cell phone in regards to one of her children, she reluctantly answered. It was a lousy "vote for x slate for city council" in Petaluma.
She was pissed beyond belief. Now it will matter not if the candidates agree with her political viewpoints or not. She will not vote for any of them. The fact of the matter is that they violated her personal time and space.

Presidential Debate
Tonight it was the Great White Robo Dork against the half and half. Still, both are men and think they "get" what it is that makes America great. Both delivered what they believed people wanted to hear. My take? Here goes....
Tonight Mr. President appeared beaten by the system. Sure, he was the eternal optimist four years ago. I also blogged (four years ago) that it matters not who is elected president as everything is too complicated to change, and that people would lose their enthusiasm quickly for "the change" promised. I knew that. The Great White Robo Dork is capitalizing on that. It's too convenient to blame the current administration. We've been messed up for decades.
Trust me when I say that neither candidate can fix our woes. People are greedy. People always want something for nothing. People will always try to scam others to pad their own pockets. This goes from Wall Street executives to those scamming welfare, workers' compensation and medicare. The monetary scale of the scamming differs, but the fundamental attempt to take advantage of the system, bend the rules, and tell half truths for personal gain is universal.
Both sides advocated how they are for the middle class. What does that mean? Having citizens go bankrupt for medical bills despite holding down a legitimate job for 30 years? Having millions lose their jobs due to automation and outsourcing overseas? My simple question to Romney would have addressed that if he is soooooooo for building the middle class with increased wages and benefits, why did he choose a running mate notorious for gutting unions?
In the real world observation I see people (both democrats and republicans) continue to hire illegals for manual work to save a buck. Don't think that your house painting job, lawn mowing, or babysitting is too small of a job to matter. It does.
Bottom line: You are the asshole. Period.
